I am going to divert from posting cards today to post something personal.

I had the honor this week to serve on a jury............... I say honor because I truly believe that it is an honor to see how that the justice system in this great country works. I was an alternate on a jury and spent the week listening to testimony from many witnesses........ and hearing the laws that governed theCommonweath of Pennsylvanie and therefore the decisions of the jury and the closing arguments from the attorney and the District Attorney. It was very interesting but also very sad. Since I was an alternate, not on the panel of 12 that had to make the final decision, I didn't get to deliberate with the rest of the jury, but I did find out the decision and it turned out that it was my decision as well. It was a time for making new friends and also learning more about the law. I have served on juries in the past but never a murder trial. It is very unlike the TV shows like Law and Order or even CSI since there was a lot of evidence shown that was processed for the case. The wheels of justice don't run quite as quickly as the TV shows. We had a few short afternoons because a witness was not ready to testify but only one hour lunches and 10 minute breaks in the morning and afternoon. It is not something I would want to do every week since it was quite depressing at times, but I am glad that I got to do my part as an American citizen.

Just a few pictures of my decorations. Since I am loading these pictures a few days before the big day, the best part of Christmas, my family, is not in these pictures. I hope to have some time to post more pictures after Christmas. Obviously, you can tell this is my tree with most of the presents underneath it. There are a few more to buy......

My Byers carolers. These are my first purchase of Byers. I found them at a yard sale in Ocean Park, WA this past summer........... what a find. Did you know that all Byers are made in the USA.......... actually right here in Pennsylvania.........

My second tree, a smaller one, in my foyer. You probably can't tell but some of the ornaments are copper colored. For some reason this year, I am really into that color. They lady in the sleigh is my second Byers purchase. My friend, Arlene and I went to the Byers factory last year and saw this lady and hesitated to purchase her and then when we decided............. there were none left............. anywhere...... so she snatched two up as soon as she saw them in the store this year. She is so pretty.

I used the white gel pen to color the roof edges on this card and the snow around the lodge. Another use for the shimmer paper. The dsp on this card is called Mocha Morning......... You can't tell on this photo but the gold in the paper shimmers.

This brushed silver cardstock is just stunning. The greeting on this card is stamped in Craft Black ink and then embossed with clear embossing powder. It gives it a bit of shimmer.

These are done in Pear Piazazz and Baja Breeze. The greeting is embossed in silver and I used the stocking punch to punch out the silver glimmer paper for the tops, toes and heels. I also used the Simply Scored............ Stampin' UP!'s new scoring tool to make the lines around the card.

I love this little girl from the Greeting Card Kids stamp set. She is just so cute. This card uses Soft Suede, Crumb Cake and Card Stock Vellum. I wet the crumb cake seam binding and crumbled it and then let it dry. Then attached parts of it with glue dots to the card to hold it in place.
The card stock vellum is embossed using the Northern Flurry embossing folder.

Where have I been, you might ask? Well, I did have some problems with my computer but that was fixed a few weeks ago. I decided to make treats for my grandkids school classes this year........... First time to try this and LOTS of candy. I hope they like them. Stampin' UP! now sells cello bags like you see below so it was so easy to make these. They are filled with M&M's and Skittles. The stamped images are from the "Spooky Bingo Bits" stamp set. I punched these out using the 1 1/4 in punch, backed it with a colored circle using the 1 3/8 in circle, and backed that with a scallop circle........... Cute aren't they..........

Did you know that Stampin' UP! now has a cookie press stamp? Well, you are looking at the Pumpkin from that set........... cute, isn't it........... all covered in sugar. This is what the press looks like. A wooden handle with with attachable rubber stamps that are washable. You attach the one you want to the handle and press into the cookie and bake.

Finished shortbread cookies............... they were very yummy. I baked them for my team meeting last Friday night............

The other stamps are a heart for Valentine's day and a snowflake for Christmas........... Give me a call if you want to order. You will love them. The recipe for these yummy cookies comes with the press...... It is so easy, I made two batches of cookies.... and cleaned up in one hour and 8 minutes.....

Spooky Banner

Last month, I hosted a team meeting for my upline, Cathy Buch. I had my basement all set up for my Play Days so it was easy to just add some more chairs and invite the team. We had a shoe box swap and a pot luck dinner (enough food for the entire neighborhood)... Kristi brought her spooky banner to share and I just had to make one........... Isn't it just adorable? Close up.

Another close up of the S. To make the banner, you need the new Perfect Pennants die. It makes the pennant of course, and the scallop circle with the neat little holes in it............... I used the spider web embossing folder to add depth to the pennant and the Alphabet simple letters die to make the letters. I used black craft ink to cover the chipboard and then sprayed them with Frost White shimmer to give them a "spooky" look.

Last month I qualified for Diva Day with my second level upline, Janet Wakeland and one of our diva projects was making a bat................ I can't tell you how many bats, I have made since then. We made them at my Play Day, my hostess club,made some for my kids, another play day with my friend, Arlene and yesterday with my best friend, Nora...... These bats, except for the one in the middle, are a work in process...... they still need their eyes and fangs. I am going to give these bats to my neighbor kiddies for decorating before Halloween but of course, they will have some treats in them. To make the bat, you need the petal cone die and the spider web embossing folder and lots of glue or sticky strip........... oh, and a circle punch.......

One of the stamp sets we got at Convention is a two step stamp set called Raining Flowers. I have used it on the three cards following.............. Notice the cards are all different but you can see which flower in the set I like best. LOL. Not Quite Navy, Cajun Craze, Sahara Sand cs.

Daffodil delight, Always Artichoke, Bravo Burgundy.... I used the new Houndstooth embossing folder on this card.

This is my favorite of all three of the cards. This one used the leaf stamp from BFF another stamp set we got at convention. I used Wild Wasabi to stamp the leaft on the white cardstock then ran it through the lattice embossing folder before adding the Chocolate Chip and Pool Party flowers.

I recently visited a friend at his beach house in Ocean Park, WA. We did a lot of reading and he was using old airline tickets for bookmarks so in addition to a thank you card, I made some bookmarks for him. I love this stamp set with the old sea feel to it. Hope you like it too.

Tea Party Placecards

One of my friends asked me to make placecards for her niece's 16th birthday party. Kathy was hosting a tea party for her niece and the colors were sage shadow and a peachy- pink. This is what I came up with. The rose is from the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set. I embossed just a tiny piece of the bottom with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder and sponged with crumb cake ink to make it look old . I used a piece of retired sage shadow cardstock to back the name place which was printed on the computer.

The roses were stamped in Crumb cake and then I used pink pirouette and peach parfait markers to color them.

I got a swap at Convention for a girl and just changed it and added the slit for the pants to make it a boy card. Super cute don't you think......... Play Day

Last weekend, I had a "Play Day" in my basement for my customers. They paid a fee to come play with my toys. The fee included three projects.... a scrap page and two cards and lunch and dinner too. My stamp room is on the second floor of my home so I carted everything down to the basement. Lots of exercise, but tottally worth it.... My neighbors lent me some tables. A friend lent me some lights. The first person arrived at 8:50 am and the last person left at 9:10 pm. They had so much fun that we scheduled another play day for October. I had a fun day too and know what to do better next time. I hope to find a few more tables so that I can add more people. Following are just a few pictures of my stamping friends. Nora and Vicki.

This was main stage for the Awards night presentations. GROW was the theme for this year's convention and those letters you see on stage were different colors depending on the presentation. This is a not so good picture of my friend, Jill walking on stage for Founder's Circle. It takes a lot of work to achieve this distinction so my heartfelt congrats to Jill and all the other Founder's Circle Achievers.............. Go Jill!

This is the outside of the Convention Center. It is a huge building and this week it has been full of excited demonstrators. We have had such a wonderful time and are so sorry that we only have one more day............ but the last day is always the best because we hear more news on what is happening for the coming year, and usually get more free goodies.

Pretty Purses

Jen and Donna came to class last week and made these pretty purses........ The paper is from the Beyond the Garden designer series paper featured in the Summer mini.

And no, there isn't a tree growing out of the purse, I put the purse on my windowsill to take the picture............... perhaps not the best thing to do.......

Poppy Parade, I love you

Can you believe that this color, Poppy Parade has been with us for almost a year and this is the first time I have used it............... what was wrong with me. But never fear, even though it is an In Color, it will be here for another year. I paired it up with Pear Pizzazz and Early Espresso for a striking combo. The stamp set I used is the Fabulous Florets from the Summer Mini. The greeting on this card is from the All Holiday set and it is my very favorite greeting in that set....... boo hoo that it is retiring. Order it now so you don't miss out.......

Love Letters Designer Series Paper

Those of you who know me well, know that I love to do black and white cards. I have done my card classes in the past using this theme.......... so when I saw this paper, it just screamed at me....... you gotta buy me............... I love this card for the simplicity. Since there isn't any stamping except for the greeting, I wasn't sure what to do inside and then I had this idea.......................... see below.

I used a pencil with a new eraser and dotted it with basic black ink............ what do you think? The greeting here is from Curvey Verses........

Fabulous Florets

This is another card using the Fabulous Florets. All the stamping is done using Basic Gray ink and then I colored in the flowers with a Pink Pirouette marker. The greeting is from the All Holidays set which is retiring at the end of this month....... It has quite a few really nice greetings in it so don't delay if it is on your wish list, order now. I used the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder to give the card base some depth. Hope you like it. Stop back again,

Soft Subtle flowers

I saw a frame on Ilina Crouse's blog that was so awesome I just had to try to reproduce it on a card so this is my card version of her frame. I used Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink and Certainly Celery cardstock along with the whisper white. It was really fun to put together. The "flowers" are made using the new Blossom Bouquet triple layer punch........... you have to get these new punches........ OMG... so awesome.

Another daffoldil but so different

I totally cased this card but don't remember from who........... sorry. The dsp on this card is from the Beyond the Garden package found in the Summer mini. I just love the vivid colors. I would have made my base melon mambo but I have to reorder that color, so daffodil it is. I used the new Flower Garden embossing folder to make the impression on the right side of the card. Then I colored the inside white parts of the dsp with a daffodil marker on the flowers and wasabi marker on the stems to add more color. The ribbon is white taffeta that I dyed using a sponge and my daffodil ink pad. It turned out really pretty.

Hope and Strength

I totally cased this card from Mary Brown.................. love it. The stamp set is our current Hope and Strength stamp set for which $2 for every stamp set sold will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The set is sold in the Summer Mini and is only $13.95 for the clear and $17.95 for the wood. It is a great set and includes four separate stamps but I love the butterfly best..........

The colors on the card are Regal Rose and Rich Razzleberry.........

My hostess club meets once a month and I love preparing cards for them......... sometimes, I get a little carried away but this one is very simple. It uses the cheery Daffodil Delight ink and cardstock. sorta monochromatic..........

Love the new Fabulous Florets stamp set.......... It is already a favorite of mine.

Pick a Daisy

This is the card my Stampers 10 group got in with their order delivery for May. It is such an easy card. I used the square lattice embossing folder on the black piece. The dsp is from the Brights Patterns pack. The daisies are from the Paper daisy package. I used the greeting from the On Your Birthday set. It would be very easy to make multiples of this card in very little time.

New Embossing Folder

This card is totally cased. I hope you like it. I used the new Flower Garden embossing folder. It has so many potential uses, I can't wait to do a whole class with it. On this card, I embossed the cardstock putting the flowers more to the left of the paper. I then used sponges to color in the flowers and leaves. I used a marker to fill in the flower centers. The ribbon is not tied, it is just folded over itself a few times and then sequered with a large rhinestone brad which I had opened the prongs and bent them around the middle of the ribbon. The greeting is from the Fabulous Floretes set.

Strengh and Hope stamp set

Many of our lives have had to cross paths with the most awful word CANCER. It comes and wrecks havoc with our lives and those around us and leaves much devastation. This beautiful stamp set is perfect for making cards to send to those friends and family members who have had to deal with this terrible disease.
